Lost the Structure

Death is tired
It has dominated lives
And destroyed many beyond its current reach
It wears me down
Constantly hammering on my consciousness
Interrupting
Halting progress

Nothing bad will ever happen to you
Except everything
We don’t hold the controls
I want to save you
But will only diminish your potential to nothing

I know exactly where I am
And why, too
Any moment I could forget
And get lost
I’m striving for what I don’t want
And can’t stop
You serve as a reminder to reset
And rethink

Recalibrate

Your face trims the excess
Cancels the noise
The voices fight for recognition
Your smile can decrease the volume
Words tumble out of my mouth in random order
Making you laugh has become my greatest accomplishment

Lost the Structure
